This policy explains what information SoftGine ("we", "us") collects when you visit softgine.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
SoftGine is a software studio based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. We build AI-powered SaaS products and custom software. If you have any question about this policy, contact us through our contact page.
The short version
- We do not use advertising, tracking cookies or analytics on this website.
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us through the contact form.
Information you give us
When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, and, if you provide them, your company, the type of project, your budget range and your message. We use this information only to reply to you, discuss your project and keep a record of our conversation.
When you send the form, we email your enquiry to our team and send you a short automatic confirmation. A copy of each enquiry is also saved on our web server so that no message is lost if an email fails.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running.
- Spam protection: to block automated spam, the contact form uses a short-lived security code generated when the page loads. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to one hour to limit repeated submissions, and a scrambled version of your email address for up to 24 hours so we send at most one confirmation email per day. These cannot be used to identify you directly and are deleted automatically.
Cookies and browser storage
The public pages of softgine.com do not set cookies. Your browser may store small preferences locally on your device, such as whether you chose light or dark mode. Our ChessTicTacToe app saves your game, scores and any piece pictures you add in your own browser only; this information is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Private client tools hosted on softgine.com, such as staff sign-in areas, use a necessary sign-in cookie for the people who log in to them. Information in those tools is handled under our agreement with the client who uses them.
Services that help run this website
- IONOS hosts this website and handles our email.
- Google Fonts provides the typefaces used on the site. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
- jsDelivr and cdnjs provide some open-source code libraries (for the 3D animation on the home page and icons in our apps). Your browser requests these files from their servers, which receive your IP address.
Our blog links to articles on other websites. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to respond to you and to maintain normal business records. Spam-protection data is deleted automatically within one hour or 24 hours, as described above. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Union, you may have additional rights under local law. To make a request, contact us through our contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Security
The website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Saved enquiries and configuration files are stored in protected areas of our server that cannot be accessed from the web.
Children
This website is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
